Black Celebrities Who Have Made Forbes Top 10 Entertainers List Throughout The Most Recent Years

Forbes has released its annual top earner’s list for 2022 and only had one black person present this year. Tyler Perry joined a list of 9 other super earners in Forbes’s “World’s 10 Highest-Paid Entertainers.” Let’s take a look at Perry’s placement over the years and who has joined him before on this list.

2019 found Will Smith and Dwayne Johnson joining a Top Earners list that was primarily comprised of actors from the MCU, including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Paul Rudd, and Chris Evans. In those years, Will and Dwayne had blockbuster films to their names, Will had starred in Aladdin and Gemini Man while The Rock starred in Jumanji and The Fast and Furious franchise. Will earned $35 million that year and came in at number 10, while Johnson earned an astounding 89.4 million and came in at number 1.

Kanye West found himself on 2020’s list with former sister-in-law Kylie Jenner. The fashion-forward family scored major wins thanks to their many collaborations, with Kylie catching the number 1 spot and West nabbing number 2. Kanye West was pocketing millions off his deals with Adidas, Balenciaga, and The Gap, making him a billionaire in the process. He earned $140m that year. Tyler Perry joined them on the 2020 list bringing in $97 million after taking his Madea franchise to Netflix, landing him at number 6.

2021 saw Tyler and Kanye West remain, joined by Jay-Z and a return from The Rock. Jay-Z pulled in a reported $340 million, landing him at number 3. The Rock rebounded to 4 at $270 million, Kanye came in at number 5 with $235 million, and Perry was number 8 with 165 million. 2022 finds Perry coming in at number 3, right behind rock band Genesis at number 1, and singer Sting at number 2. That year the only other person of color on the list was Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny at number 10. Taylor Swift is the only woman in the top 10 bringing in $92 million.

The rest of the group consists of Brad Pitt, James Cameron, and the creative duos behind South Park and the Simpsons.
